Volunteer Symposium
Every year, KVRC hosts a daylong Volunteer Leadership Symposium each spring, featuring keynote speakers and timely workshops related to volunteer leadership and nonprofit management.
This workshop will focused on understanding the strengths and challenges which neurodivergent people bring to the workplace.
Volunteers are a critical resource for so many businesses and organizations. Persons who are neurodivergent often want to volunteer and have some exceptional skills which can provide a vital resource in these times of fewer people volunteering. This workshop will focused on understanding the strengths and challenges which neurodivergent people bring to the workplace. Creating an environment that allows these volunteers to feel comfortable and carry out volunteer opportunities successfully will be discussed. Strategies and supports that can be incorporated into the environment will be described. Tips for supervisors and others working with neurodivergent volunteers will be provided along with a question and answer session. A neurodivergent young woman who would love to volunteer more will also provide her views on what barriers she faces when searching for fulfilling volunteer and work opportunities.
