OrganizationThe Shoebox Project for Women
Position Volunteer Local Chapter Coordinator - Halifax - Local Chapter of The Shoebox Project
Impact Statement Every woman, regardless of their circumstances, can achieve great things for themselves and their families. They can gain confidence and self worth, find independence, become leaders and someday may mentor others to do the same. All it takes is a caring community to see them, to hear them, and to act to support them. Our Local Chapters work together to uplift and empower women so they can see themselves in a positive light and worthy of being cared for.

IT BEGINS WITH YOU. We are waiting for your leadership today and you’ll be ready to hit the ground running for our annual drive season beginning in September!
Description The primary role of a Local Chapter Coordinator is to lead a chapter of the Shoebox Project in your community. A Local Coordinator determines a Chapter's goals based on the needs of local shelters and community agencies.

They lead and execute seasonal gift drives by recruiting local volunteers to help. Chapters educate and build awareness of The Shoebox Project and our mission.
They encourage the community to support the Chapter's goals through Shoebox gift donations and monetary donations to support their drive efforts.

ARE YOU...
-A leader with strong project management skills?
-Excited to build partnerships and develop community connections?
-Devoted to giving the time and effort required to drive lasting change?
Training Details Training is provided by our Head office team with self paced learning modules, virtual one-on-one training sessions as well as a toolkit guide that is always accessible. Periodic lunch n'learn sessions as the season progresses as well as ongoing support and communication from the team at HQ 12 months of the year.
Working Conditions Home-based/community based and flexible. There is no physical office location in Halifax. You will be able to manage this chapter from the comfort of your home. This role involves managing physical gift drives with the help of other volunteers you recruit to help. Gifts must be gathered, inspected and delivered to local Shelters as part of this role so there is a physical aspect to it. The Halifax Chapter delivered almost 2000 gifts during their 2023 holiday gift drive! A wonderful outpouring of support from the local community in the Halifax region.
