Position Walk Leader - NS Walks
Impact Statement Our trained volunteer walk leaders help adults in communities in Nova Scotia enjoy the many physical, mental and social benefits of walking by leading safe and friendly weekly group walks.
Description Take free 3-hour virtual or in person training, then organize and lead weekly gentle walk groups in your community. These walks are for adults who are currently less active. We offer continual support to our walk leaders who stay in touch with us about who is coming out to the walks and any changes of location or schedule.
Training Details We offer free, 3-hour interactive virtual or in-person training sessions that provides volunteers the skills and knowledge to lead or co-lead a group in their community. We discuss the benefits of walking, choosing a good route, the pace of the group and more.
Working Conditions Most of the work will be outdoors, need to be able to walk for approx. 1/2 hour and carry a light backpack.
