About the Position
Position # 2187
OrganizationCatapult Leadership Society
Position Camp Counselor - Catapult camp
Impact Statement Our volunteers are committed, passionate individuals who enjoy working with youth. We believe we have the best staff in the world - people who work collaboratively and are supportive of one another as well as the youth we serve. Our volunteers return an average of 4 times during their University careers with an average annual 83% return rate. While our staff team works hard to provide a life-changing opportunity to our Catapult youth, it is often our staff who share that their lives have been changed equally.
Description As a volunteer staff member, your primary responsibility will be to look after the safety and general well-being of our campers during their time with us. You will be expected to:
• Get to know all campers
• Work with your staff team to create a memorable experience for all
• Encourage the more timid and introverted campers to participate
• Provide general supervision and discipline
• Assist Camp Directors and teaching resources
• Act as a moderator during Family Shares
• Set up and supervise activities following Covid protocols

Working Conditions This year we are hosting a hybrid camp experience – 3 days of virtual learning and activities and a 4-day roadshow to deliver Catapult camp in our students communities in a safe manner during Covid. We are looking for staff for both experiences:

Virtual Catapult Camp via Zoom – August 4 – 8, 2021. Aug 4-6 are 6pm-10pm, August 7 & 8 are 9am-10pm (online and offline activities)

Catapult Roadshow – August 11 -15, 2021. We will travel together as a team to Antigonish at 4pm on August 11 and remain together throughout Truro, Halifax and the Valley conducting the camp by day and debrief/stay in hotel in the evenings.
