Position: Social Group Facilitator - Social Group Program
Location: 5945 Spring Garden Road, Halifax, NS, Canada
Description: Teen and Adult Social Groups bring together teens (14 years old and up) and adults who would like to meet peers who are also on the autism spectrum. Outings and activities are chosen by participants. Supported by trained volunteers, groups are between 6-10 members.

Social Group helps to build confidence, independence and provides members with a sense of belonging. Engaging in a social group creates many new opportunities for individuals to make friends, share meaningful experiences, mutual interests, and challenges in their daily lives; here they can feel welcome just being themselves.

The Social Group Facilitator is responsible for the following:
- attend social program sessions
- facilitate the session's activities as laid out by the Program Coordinator
- support socialization and interaction with the participants
- be involved in the planning of session's activities
- record session summaries
- record session data
Training Details: 3-hour Autism 101 training and Volunteer Orientation provided by Autism Nova Scotia.
Minimum Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Weekday - Evening
Time Detail: Social Groups twice a month starting in October.
Thursday group A from 4:30-6:30pm
Thursday group B from 7-9pm
Friday group A from 4:30-6:30pm
Friday group B from 7-9pm
Age: 18+
