Impact Statement Volunteers are the life force of the Heritage Society. The Society is directed by a group of dedicated volunteers, and in every facet of its work, volunteers are critical. Our volunteers are a diverse and talented group of people who enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience with others, giving back to their community, and preserving the heritage of the Eastern Shore for generations to come.
Description Archives & Collections Support volunteering is essential to the collections work which underpins all of the Society’s activities both as part of Memory Lane Heritage Village and the Eastern Shore Archives.

Roles include:
- Archival Support: scanning, indexing etc. of the document and
photograph collections.
- Artifacts Cataloguer
- Artifact Restorer
- Genealogy Support
- Historical Researcher
- Oral History Support (interviewing)
- Transcription Support

Some roles are suitable for young people, generally those 14-18 but we
always approach age in relation to a particular role on a case by case basis.
Training Details Training will be role related and mostly on-the-job.
Minimum Duration 3 months or less
Timing Anytime
Time Detail Generally, as and when needed or available. Most roles in the Archives & Collections Stream are more active over the shoulder and winter seasons although there are still opportunities to support this stream during the summer. Some roles, such as Archival Support, have a set day over the winter when work is carried out at the Heritage Village.
