About the Position
Position # 1902
OrganizationRonald McDonald House Charities Atlantic
Position Community Engagement Volunteer
Impact Statement Nothing quite refreshes your soul like fighting imaginary zombies or making bracelets for hours on end with little kids. For a few hours each week, I'm lucky enough to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House where families have the chance to take a small break. Kids can focus on playing instead of thinking about what they or their siblings may be going through and parents can breathe for one moment knowing their family is safe within the walls of this home. Having a safe place to come to after a long day at the hospital is something that is important in healing, and I feel so lucky to be able to be a small part of that process. Learning the stories of others and seeing how brave these tiny humans and their families are makes me feel like I can conquer the "hard" things in my day to day life. These families inspire me endlessly and make me believe that life is so much better when we have each other to lean on.
