Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia
The Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia is dedicated to addressing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Goals across our province. Operating through Nova Scotia's Ten Social Determinants of Health, The Philanthropic Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, and The Canadian Philanthropy Commitment to Climate Change, we acknowledge the interconnectedness of these issues and recognize that unmet needs can undermine progress in equity, health, poverty alleviation, economic prosperity, Indigenous and human rights. We strive to prevent the adverse impacts of social ill-health and climate change. Our mission involves promoting equal opportunities for health, irrespective of background or location. We invite everyone to contribute to this shared goal of reconciliation in an atmosphere of understanding, dignity, and respect. Additionally, we call on all to demonstrate commitment to addressing the climate emergency, learning from experience, and intensifying climate change mitigation efforts. Understanding the integral link between poverty and various social needs, including education, health, social protection, job opportunities, and environmental concerns, we advocate for comprehensive strategies that foster economic growth while simultaneously addressing climate change and environmental protection.
