Position Trained Leader (Project Leader) - 4-H Nova Scotia
Impact Statement Join the “Learn to do by Doing” movement which has been growing strong in Nova Scotia for 100 years. Volunteers with the program often learn many hands-on skills right alongside members while providing them support and guidance. 4-H is a versatile program with four pillars; Community Engagement and Communications, Science and Technology, The Environment and Healthy Living, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security. There are projects to suit everyone’s interests and abilities. As a volunteer you have the opportunity to positively impact youth who leave the program with the confidence and skills needed to be productive contributors to their communities.
Description Trained Leaders are vital to the success of the 4-H program. Trained Leaders are responsible for the organization of project meetings, providing hands on learning opportunities for members and ensuring all safety policies are followed. 4-H Nova Scotia provides leader manuals and project newsletters for 38 projects (https://4hnovascotia.ca/projects-competitions/) and are looking for individuals with skill in any of these project areas to share their knowledge. You don't need to be an expert, just willing to share your time!
4-H Nova Scotia complies with the Rule of Two for youth supervision. Trained Leaders will be paired with another Trained Leader or Screened Volunteer at all times when interacting with members.

All Trained Leaders will be provided with information and support from a Regional Program Coordinator.
Working Conditions Trained Leaders are responsible for organizing project meetings, including the location. This may be in your own home or at a public venue.
Minimum Duration 7 - 12 months
Timing Anytime
Time Detail Trained Leaders (Project Leaders) set their own meeting times and schedules, in consultation with their co-leader/volunteer. Typically projects meet once per month, but this can be more or less often depending on the project goals. In addition, Trained Leaders are encouraged attend a monthly General Meeting to learn more about the program.
