Position Marketing and Communications Manager - Shelter Movers Nova Scotia

Description The Marketing and Communications Manager, reporting to the National Communications Specialist, will lead the Marketing and Communications team of Shelter Movers Nova Scotia. The main responsibilities will include executing the Marketing and Communications strategy and preparing external communications to the public on behalf of Shelter Movers Nova Scotia.

Primary Responsibilities
- Execute the Marketing and Communications strategy as dictated by the National Director of Marketing and Communications
- Help manage and review social media posts created by Content Producers.
- Manage and develop content for Shelter Movers Nova Scotia.
- Supervise and review copywriting by the team of Content Producers.
- Teach the team of Content Producers how to improve their skills.
- Help the Chapter Director, or other spokespeople, prepare for interviews and liaise with the media to provide additional support.
- Create and manage research projects regarding marketing strategy.
Training Details Shelter Movers volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, complete an interview process, sign a confidentiality agreement, obtain a police reference check, and attend a Trauma-Informed Care Orientation session. The Marketing Manager will also receive additional role-specific training.

The Ideal Marketing Manager will have:
- Access to the Adobe Suite of programs.
- Reliable work habits and strong organizational skills.
- An interest in a wide variety of Marketing and Communications related work.
- The ability to work as part of a team.
- Respect for client and volunteer confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including managing conflict.
- Tact, discretion, high maturity level, and good judgement.
- Patience, empathy, active listening skills, and ability to handle difficult conversations.
- Experience working with the public, including people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working with different social media platforms.
- An understanding of data analytics and insights from multiple platforms.
- A long-term interest in the Violence Against Women (VAW) sector, and Volunteer Management/Non-Profit Management.
- A passion for Shelter Movers’ mission of supporting women and children fleeing violence and abuse.
Working Conditions Remote work, candidates will need access to internet.

Time Detail Approximately 6-8 hours per week.
