Impact Statement Camp Kidston's community of volunteers is dedicated to creating the strong kids, strong families, and strong community leaders that Nova Scotia needs now and in the future. Our Program Committee plays a key role in ensuring the excellence of the programs we offer to campers throughout the year, by setting program goals and guiding the development of key policies and procedures.

We are currently working to enrich and expand our outdoor and environmental education programs. Our goal is to help our campers develop both their outdoor skills and their appreciation of nature, while understanding the importance of caring for our woods and waters.
Description Our Outdoor Education Champion will have a passion for educating people of all ages about living in and caring for the natural world. They will work closely with other Program Committee members, under the direction of the Program Chair and in collaboration with our Executive Director, to:

- develop key program objectives and outcomes
- establish supporting policies and procedures
- identify resources to support the implementation of high-quality outdoor education activities
- support staff training initiatives related to outdoor education programs

The Outdoor Education Champion will have expertise in the areas of outdoor education, environmental education, and/or adventure camping and will be an excellent team player. Previous experience in the summer camp industry and/or experience working with youth is an asset, but not required.
Training Details An orientation to the organization and its mission and values will be provided. We support the ongoing skill development of all our members and consideration will be given to supporting participation in workshops or other learning activities which are relevant to Kidston's goals.
Working Conditions This role will involve a combination of indoor committee work and outdoor work. All aspects of the role involve working as part of a team.
Minimum Duration More than 1 year
Timing Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Weekend - Evening
Time Detail Formal committee meetings are held approximately 6-8 times per year, either in person or virtually. Outdoor activities occur as needed and may involve such things as planning, clearing, or maintaining trails and campsites, or facilitating staff training activities.
