Position Volunteer Services Supervisor - Shelter Movers Nova Scotia: South Shore
Impact Statement In July 2019 Shelter Movers Nova Scotia became operational in Halifax. In our first year, SMNS supported 160 women & children to not have to choose between bringing their belongings and leaving a domestic violence situation. SMNS is in the process of extending our services to the South Shore and we need your help! Please consider applying to this position to help recruit volunteers so we can continue supporting survivors in your community.
Description The primary responsibilities of a Volunteer Services Supervisor are recruitment, training and facilitation. A Volunteer Services Supervisor should have knowledge of volunteer management theory, trends, and leading practices. A Volunteer Services Supervisor should have advanced communication skills, a basic understanding of office management software, and the ability to maintain multiple ongoing priorities. The Volunteer Services Supervisor will be required to learn new skills as necessary to adapt to changing technologies within the sector.
Training Details Supported by SMNS Volunteer Services Manager as well as the current Volunteer Services team in Halifax as needed. The Volunteer Services Supervisor will attend a 2 hour trauma-informed care workshop specific to the work Shelter Movers does as well as role specific training to introduce organizational policies and processes.
Working Conditions Primarily will be an at-home position. With the possibility for in-person training and recruitment opportunities.
