As a member of our volunteer board of directors you can help shape the approach that citizens take to create healthy and caring communities, free of gambling harm. Your work can impact local organizations, businesses, and government policy. You can help develop creative approaches, source funding, and reach out to communities across the province.
Description
We are looking for a broad range of participants from across the province. (We meet virtually via Zoom or Google Meet.) No specific experience with Gambling Issues is needed. Previous members have had expertise in public health, teaching, community policing, research, not-for-profit management, fund-raising, local business, peer support, statistics, community psychology, and more. Note that GRINS does not address treatment issues. We are primarily concerned with the impact of gambling on the wider community. Current projects include: research into impact of sports betting on youth, and an interactive video project targeted at youth to raise awareness of community harms of gambling and of the variable risk factors of different forms of gambling.
