Position Screened Volunteer - 4-H Nova Scotia
Impact Statement Join the “Learn to do by Doing” movement which has been growing strong in Nova Scotia for 100 years. Volunteers with the program often learn many hands-on skills right alongside members while providing them support and guidance. 4-H is a versatile program with four pillars; Community Engagement and Communications, Science and Technology, The Environment and Healthy Living, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security. There are projects to suit everyone’s interests and abilities. As a volunteer you have the opportunity to positively impact youth who leave the program with the confidence and skills needed to be productive contributors to their communities.
Description Screened Volunteers are vital to the success of the 4-H program in Nova Scotia. Screened Volunteers support Trained Leaders at meetings and events in order to provide additional supervision of members. The "Rule of Two" policy followed by 4-H dictates you will always be accompanied by a Trained Leader when working with members.
Training Details All Screened Volunteers with 4-H Nova Scotia must complete the following: Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

New volunteers will be provided with an information package and have the support of a Regional Program Coordinator.
Working Conditions The location of meetings and activities will be determined by the Trained Leader you are teamed with. This can range from an indoor "FOODS" meeting demonstrating proper cooking techniques to a "GREAT OUTDOORS" meeting teaching camping and survival skills in the woods. Please let us know what type of activity you may be interested in to help us place you accordingly.

Timing Weekday - Evening
Time Detail Timing of events and activities are determined by the Trained Leaders in each club. Meetings and Activities supported by Screened Volunteers can be discussed and mutually agreed upon between the volunteer and leader.
