Connecting with your Community

Frontier College
Frontier College is Canada's oldest, charitable literacy organization, since 1899. We recruit, screen and train volunteers in Halifax and Dartmouth to tutor under-served children youth and adults in reading, writing, math, homework, adult education, and English language skills. We are currently recruiting volunteers to help with our Summer Reading Tents! Every year we place about 150 volunteer tutors in community organizations and schools in Halifax and Dartmouth. As a tutor you can choose where and when you would like to tutors, as well as the age group and subject matter. We ask that you tutor for one to two hours per week depending on the program. No special qualifications are required: just patience, reliability, creativity and a desire to help others.
